Following Jesus was never meant to be ordinary. Throughout Scripture—and throughout our own stories in Freedom Church Worcester—we see a God who invites us into a meaningful life shaped by adventure, sacrifice, and purpose. When we say “yes” to Him, we step into a story far bigger than ourselves.
This devotional is a reminder that God has placed purpose inside each of us, whether we feel called to the nations, called to our neighbours, or called to simply take one faithful step today.
1. You Are Called to Live a Meaningful Story
Many people spend their lives chasing things that won’t last—careers, possessions, comfort. But as one author says, “If what we choose to do with our lives isn’t meaningful, it won’t make our lives meaningful.”
Jesus invites us into something far greater.
In Matthew 28, He gives us a calling that fills every day with eternal weight:
“Go and make disciples of all nations… and surely I am with you always.”—Matthew 28:19–20
Your life has purpose because He has purpose for you. Whether you’re a student, a parent, a worker, or a leader, your everyday choices can carry eternal significance.
Even the “mundane” moments become meaningful when you recognise God’s presence in them.
2. God Leads Us Through Seasons of Planting and Building
The Book of Acts shows a rhythm we still see in the church today: seasons of going and seasons of planting roots.
Luke travelled with Paul as part of the early church movement—sometimes going, sometimes staying, always listening to the Spirit’s direction. His story reminds us that:
Some are called to go
Some are called to stay and build
All are called to be faithful
Maybe your season is one of building—serving faithfully, loving your community, raising a family, discipling others, or strengthening the church here in Worcester.
Or maybe God is stirring something new in you—a holy nudge toward something unfamiliar or bold. Whatever your season, God’s Spirit is the one who leads.
3. Your Story Has Power—Share It Freely
One of the most powerful tools God has given us is our testimony. In Revelation, it says we overcome the enemy “by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony.”
Your story—no matter how ordinary or dramatic it feels—can unlock faith in someone else.
Maybe you met Jesus in a church service.
Maybe you found Him after years of wandering.
Maybe you grew up in faith and never turned away.
All of it matters. God uses every story.
In Freedom Church Worcester, we’ve seen lives transformed because someone simply invited a friend, prayed for a neighbour, or shared a story of what God had done. That’s the power of living openly for Jesus.
4. Go Into Your World—Starting Today
You don’t need to move countries to obey Jesus’ command to “go.” For many of us, the mission field is right in front of us:
Your street
Your workplace
Your university
Your family
Your city
There is a spiritual hunger rising across the UK. People are searching for hope, and we carry the message they’re longing for—Jesus, the light of the world.
Your “yes” to God may change someone’s eternity.
A Prayer for Today
Jesus, give me eyes to see the opportunities around me today.
Help me live a meaningful life—one led by Your Spirit, shaped by Your calling, and filled with Your boldness.
Use my story for Your glory. Amen.
