Our House on the Rock series is all about building a strong, unshakable spiritual life.
This week, we’re focusing on something vital: reaching out. Sharing the love and hope of Jesus isn’t just for pastors or “super-Christians.” It’s a calling for all of us—whether you’ve followed Jesus for years or are just starting the journey.
Why Reaching Out Matters
A strong foundation in Christ isn’t just for us—it’s meant to overflow into the world around us.
When we step into God’s mission, we partner with Him in transforming lives. And that doesn’t always mean preaching on a stage. More often, it looks like:
- letting the fire in your heart overflow,
- partnering with the Holy Spirit,
- stepping out in faith, and
- trusting God to do the rest.
Standing Firm in a Stormy World
Life is full of storms—financial struggles, health scares, family stress. None of us escape them.
That’s why Jesus’ words in Matthew 7:24-27 are so powerful:
“Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”
When storms come (and they will), a life built on Him stands strong.
Foundations We’ve Laid So Far
Over the past few weeks we’ve explored the key building blocks of faith:
- Faith (Pastor Jord)
- Prayer (Luke)
- Tithing (Sam)
Now we add another layer: reaching out to others with the love of Jesus.
Living with Spiritual Authority
Here’s the incredible truth: the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives inside you.
That’s not just comforting—it’s empowering. It’s what enables us to live boldly, stand firm, and reach out with confidence.
Passion That Overflows
Think about the things you’re passionate about—a new restaurant, a hobby, a TV show. When you love something, it’s natural to share it.
Faith is no different. When we truly grasp what Jesus has done for us, keeping it to ourselves feels impossible.
Everyday Opportunities to Share
Reaching out often happens in small, simple ways:
- Leaving a Bible visible at home, sparking a conversation.
- Choosing kindness when gossip is easier.
- Living out the fruits of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, and more.
Your life is telling a story every day. Is yours pointing people to Jesus?
Evangelism: Joining God’s Mission
Evangelism isn’t a chore—it’s an invitation to join God in His mission of redemption.
- Matthew 28:18-20 – The Great Commission: “Go and make disciples of all nations.”
- Mark 16:15 – “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.”
God isn’t asking you to save the whole world. He’s asking you to share His love with the people right in front of you.
Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges
Jesus modelled this beautifully: He ate with tax collectors, welcomed outcasts, and connected with people where they were.
We’re called to do the same:
- Be present in friendships outside of church.
- Step into conversations, even if people seem busy.
- Trust God to use even the smallest seed of faith.\
Our DNA: Relentless Reaching
At Freedom Church, we talk about having a DNA of relentless reaching.
That means we don’t stay silent about Jesus. We persistently share His hope with family, friends, and our community—because someone’s eternity might depend on it.
And when doubts creep in—“my testimony isn’t strong enough,” “my voice isn’t good enough”—remember: those are lies from the enemy. You are God’s masterpiece, created for this very purpose.
A Call to Compassion and Action
At the heart of reaching out is love.
We don’t share the gospel because we want something from people. We share it because we want something for them: freedom, peace, hope, and eternal life.
Think back to life before Jesus. Would you want to return there? Neither would anyone else. That’s why compassion compels us to act.
An Invitation to Relationship
Maybe you’re reading this and you don’t yet know Jesus. Or maybe you’ve walked away.
Here’s the good news: He’s inviting you right now into a relationship with Him—a life filled with purpose and peace.
Here’s a simple prayer of surrender:
Lord Jesus, I know I’m not perfect. I feel an emptiness in my heart. Please come fill it. Show me Your love. I give my life to You. Lead and guide me. Amen.
If you prayed that prayer, we’d love to connect with you. Don’t walk this journey alone.
Stepping Into Your Purpose
God has called you to be His mouthpiece. Step past fear. Embrace your identity in Christ.
He wants to use your story. He wants to fill you with His Spirit.
Let’s be people who don’t just build strong foundations for ourselves—but who reach out, invite others in, and help them build their lives on the Rock too.
