Don’t Stop on Day Six: How to Steward God’s Promises With Faith and Perseverance

There are moments in our lives when the promises of God feel distant—when what He has spoken over us doesn’t seem to match what we see in front of us. Many of us have carried words, dreams, and callings that now feel forgotten or unreachable. But the truth is this: God’s promises are still alive, and He invites us to partner with Him to see them fulfilled.
Just like Israel at the walls of Jericho, we sometimes step into the “promised land” only to discover a fortress standing in our way. But obstacles do not cancel God’s promise—they often become the very path God uses to lead us into it.
1. When Your Perspective Is Limited, God’s Is Not
In Joshua 6, God says something remarkable:
“See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands…”
…even while the walls were still standing strong.
From Joshua’s perspective, the gates were securely barred. From God’s perspective, the victory was already done.
Many of us get stuck at verse one—the part we can see. We see the closed door, the unchanged situation, the uphill battle. But God invites us to lift our eyes to His perspective:
“I have delivered.”
If you’re facing something that feels locked or unreachable, ask God this week:
“Lord, help me see what You see.”
When our vision aligns with His, faith rises—and we can walk forward even when nothing seems to be moving.
2. Your Progress Isn’t Always Obvious—But God Is Working
The Israelites marched around Jericho for six days without a single crack appearing in the wall. No progress. No signs. No encouragement.
Maybe that’s where you are today.
You’ve prayed.
You’ve obeyed.
You’ve kept walking.
And nothing looks different.
But day six is not the end of the story.
God often works in the unseen places—beneath the surface, behind the scenes, inside our hearts. The silence of progress does not mean the absence of God. Sometimes, a breakthrough comes right after the moment you feel like giving up.
If you’re discouraged, hear this:
You’re doing better than you think.
You’re further along than you realise.
And the God who called you is still at work.
3. Obedience Opens the Door to Breakthrough
God didn’t ask Israel for a strategy—He asked for obedience.
Not understanding—obedience.
Not perfection—obedience.
Their job was simple: walk.
God’s job was powerful: collapse the walls.
In the same way, sometimes God asks us to keep going even when it feels pointless.
Forgive again.
Pray again.
Show up again.
Give again.
Believe again.
Walk again.
Your consistency + God’s power = breakthrough.
Every step of obedience is building something in you—faith, endurance, trust—so that when the promise arrives, you’re ready to carry it.
4. Don’t Stop on Day Six
On the seventh day, the Israelites had to march not once but seven times. The final stretch was actually the hardest.
Some of us quit right before the walls fall.
If you are tired…If you feel done…If you are tempted to stop walking…
Hear this today: Don’t stop on day six.
God has not brought you this far to leave you on the edge of the promise. The walls you are facing are not there to block you—they are about to become the path that leads you into your purpose.
His promises are Yes in Christ.
Your part is the Amen—the agreement, the faith, the step forward.
God has more for you.
Keep walking.
The walls will fall.
